Investigating textile-based electrodes for ECG monitoring in veterinary clinical practice

Abstract There is an increasing interest in long-term electrocardiography (ECG) monitoring veterinary clinical practice. ECG the most essential physiological signal diagnosing and managing heart diseases both humans animals. Electrodes are main components that affect quality of acquired signal. This study focuses on development silver-coated textile electrodes for testing (particularly dogs). Silver printed polyester, embroidered, silver-plated conductive hook were used measurement dogs. important validation use sensors combination with hairy skin. signals collected while animal was a static position walking smooth surface. The from dog using silver polyester embroidered slight skin preparation have identifiable P, QRS, T waveforms comparable standard silver/silver chloride (Ag/AgCl) electrodes. Results revealed these can be to avoid associated problems commercially crocodile clamps Ag/AgCl show promising results when placed regions without any preparation.
